Goodbye Benny…

Well, I’m sorry to say, I had to have Benny put to sleep yesterday. He wasn’t doing very well…he had lost more weight and wasn’t eating or drinking so I took him to see the vet. The vet felt around his belly and found a mass that didn’t belong there…He had a large tumor and his kidneys were enlarged. It was hard to say goodbye so abruptly, but I couldn’t let him suffer any more. I still can’t believe that we both got cancer.

Benny was with me for a long time, he was one of my best friends for fifteen years. He was one of those ‘once in a lifetime’ pets.  There will never be one like him.  I miss him unbelievably.

With that I’ll say goodbye Benny, I love you and miss you.

  1. Jay – So sorry to hear about Benny.I think he stuck around to the end of your treatments to be with you. I think he stayed with you -even though he was sick- to help you through these last six months and you have made your way through all your treatments now and you are on your way to be healthy.He knew you are going to be ok now. Pretty smart cat!

Hi Jay, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your great friend benny, as a crazy pet-parent myself, I can only imagine how sad it is to say goodbye,,Benny was lucky to have a friend like you who appreciates the unconditional love a pet can give, and he will always be in your heart. I am glad you a feeling better and I hope to hear more from you soon – and I cannot agree more with the comment above, benny was a smart cat…

  3. Ok, When You told me about Benny, I felt really bad. But after seeing the pictures and reading the notes and everything..I totally cried! I know how you feel, it was the same feeling when we put down Star. I am so sorry! HUGS!!!!!
